"Finally‚ a decent "Missing" release has seen the light of day. Thisdisc‚ has done for "Missing" what Old World Music did for "The Bounty."This bootleg has obviously been taken from the master tapes of thescore recording and puts the looped-riddled "Missing" OWM release toshame. Most of the music is eerie‚ sad and many times repetitive(tracks8‚9‚10‚15) but nonetheless atmospheric. One can easily call tomind "Blade Runner" with some tracks. Tracks 12 and 13 are swoopingand delicate at the same time‚ and sound like something off of "TheBounty" score. The most prominent tracks are 2‚6‚7‚12‚13‚14 and 16. Track 14 "Rooftop Dinner" is a departure for Vangelis - a melodicsmooth piano melody accompanied with a bolero rhythm track. Track 16is a slightly cheezy rhythm track as well‚ with a saxophone playingaway (probably Dick Morrisey‚ who also played on the lovely BladeRunner Love Theme) The first half of this disk offers most of themusic‚ while the latter half rehashes a lot of the earlier music.

Although absolutely beautiful and magnificent in many parts‚ one getsthe sense that in 1982‚ when Vangelis composed this music‚ he did sowithout exerting that much effort. In contrast‚ the same year‚Vangelis left part of his nervous system with the score for "BladeRunner." Nonetheless‚ with all the poor quality and dubious Vangelisbootleg material floating out there‚ this release is‚ without a singledoubt‚ among the best existing Vangelis rarities and a rare gem for anyVangelis fan."

"This is quite a surprising score. The overall feeling here is dark‚ andthe atmosphere of the music is of strong tension‚ very much in the veinof Mike Oldfield "Killing Fields" (Though "Missing" was first‚ sorryMike! ). In fact‚ tracks 3‚ 4 and 5 could perfectly be only onenine-minutes track‚ and it all gets a bit overlong for my taste. Thereare also a series of very short themes (8‚10‚13) too short to do anythingon me. I suppose all this fear atmosphere helps the more melodic tracksshining‚ such "Hotel Theme"‚ "Hospital" or "Charlie and Terry'sFlashback"‚ all of them very‚ very pretty‚ and even moving. Tracks 14 and16 are really a funny thing in Vangelis repertoire‚ and I can't helpseeing them as a parody of some kinds of light music. If you take allthese elements and add the well-known "End Credits" you have enoughreasons to get this release. Do it‚ it's really worth. Even when thosesilly remixes in the end are exactly identical to the original versions"
