Ace Up My Sleeve - Digalog Records

This Digalog cd looks nice, but it's recording quality isn't. The beautiful music of the Ace Up My Sleeve movie sinks away in hiss and low noise. The sounds 'crack' and clips everywhere. Really bad. The first track lasts for over 25 minutes, soundclips from the movie mended together. The hiss sinks away every now and then, like the overall volume does as well. The trackvolume of the other various themes isn't good as well. This cd is very heavy mastered, so playing a bit too loud will blow away your roof.
Next to the red strip on the sleeve, there is an almost impossible to read text stating "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack". Not only the Ace Up My Sleeve soundtrack is presented, track four comes from Cousteau and it's last track is Morandi. Also "Song Is..." is on this cd.
It's nice to have it for it's rarity, but avoid it for the quality. Don't expect anything new or real rare stuff, and please be careful with your speakers! This cd comes in a slimline cd case.

"This release is the perfect compliment to the official Warner releaseof 1994. In fact? if you have both of these items? it renders theGongo and Off-World releases almost superfluous. The sound isexcellent? and the disc includes many? many tracks that are notavailable on any other release. For example? here you will find suchthemes as the prelude to Rachael?s Voight Kampff test? Animoid Row?Tafey Lewis? Bar? Morning at JF Sebastian?s apartment? and even theunreleased? alternate Love Theme. These themes aren?t cut around thedialog either? as is the case with many of the OWM releases? and likethe official release? all of themes flow into each other beautifully . The disc also includes many of the sound effects that gave Blade Runnerits terrific? dark? film noir atmosphere such as rain? flying spinnersand other street sounds. Lastly? the only drawback to this release isthat many of the major themes such as "Memories of Green?" "Love Theme"etc? appear as short versions? or as is heard directly in the film. "This cd is clearly a rarity. Only 5 made. It's soundquality is rather bad, no noisereduction is used so a lot of noise pushes away the great music.
The only interesting thing about this cd is the two different versions of Glorianna, but you have to listen carefully to find those differences. The hiss is in my opinion very annoying, so to listen to the whole track needs some stamina. Nice to have it, not so nice to listen to. "

"This new version of "Sex Power/Fais Que" comes as factory pressed CD and excellently made cover artwork. Unfortunately the two "Forminx" tracks are not listed anywhere. They are "A Hard Night's Day" and "Until The End". Overall sound quality is excellent? providing fantastic audio spectrum for a recording of that age? only available from vinyl sources. Anyway? as to be expected? there are more or less minor clicks audible when using headphones. Furthermore some smoothened cracks can be heard in track 9? at the end of track 12? and throughout track 13.
The track separation between 1/2? 7/8 and 10/11 could have been improved. Both Forminx tracks supply excellent? CD-like sound quality. At least "Until The End" sounds better than on "The Ultimate Greek Pop" box set. Considering that those tracks do not really fit on that CD? I would have recommended using the Fais Que 7" tracks as bonus - I know how rare they are! - or at least stuff in the same mood as SexPower/Fais Que. Anyway I really recommend this edition and fully agree to the ranking shown above? giving it 4-5 dots."
